You don’t need to spend €1,000 to get a safe, comfortable stroller. Every pram and pushchair sold in the EU is designed to the same safety standard, EN 1888, whatever it costs. What a lower budget changes is comfort, materials, suspension, wheel size, fold design and accessories.
This guide focuses on strollers from established brands that we saw at or under €300 at EU brand shops or named retailers on 2 November 2026, and that are suitable from birth (or nearly). Prices move quickly – especially around Black Friday – so check before you buy.

What you give up under €300 – and what you shouldn’t
Usually given up:
- big wheels and air-filled tyres;
- all-terrain suspension (though some budget models have basic suspension on all wheels);
- a separate carrycot (most budget picks use a lie-flat seat instead);
- premium fabrics, leatherette handles and lots of included accessories;
- one-piece folds with a carrycot attached.
Don’t give up:
- a flat position for a newborn if you need it from birth (lie-flat seat, carrycot or compatible infant car seat);
- a five-point harness and an easy parking brake;
- a brand you can contact for spare parts and warranty;
- a canopy with decent coverage, and a rain cover (included or cheap to add).
1. Cybex Beezy – best overall under €300
The Beezy is the most complete budget stroller we found from a premium brand. Cybex lists:
- 8.5 kg;
- folded size 27 × 48.5 × 64.5 cm;
- a seat that reclines to a full lie-flat position, so it’s suitable from birth;
- all-terrain wheels with all-wheel suspension;
- a bumper bar included.
Cybex’s German shop listed it at €299.95 on 2 November 2026, and we saw it from €200.99 at German retailers. It’s travel-system compatible with Cybex infant car seats.
Best for: a single stroller from birth for city and park use. Watch out for: 8.5 kg is heavier than the ultra-light picks below.
2. Joie Pact Pro – lightest and cheapest
Joie is a widely sold brand in the EU, and the Pact Pro is one of the lightest from-birth strollers at its price. Retail listings give:
- 6.3 kg;
- suitable from birth to 22 kg;
- four-wheel suspension and lockable swivel front wheels;
- a carry handle and transport bag;
- folded size about 66.1 × 47.1 × 24.3 cm (retailer figure).
On 2 November 2026 Joie’s German listing showed €165.09, and German retailers had it from €159. A Pact Pro travel system with infant car seat was listed at €199.95 on Joie’s German site.
Best for: tight budgets, travel and public transport. Watch out for: smaller wheels; it’s built for pavements rather than cobbles or gravel.
3. Maxi-Cosi Lara² – light travel system
Maxi-Cosi lists the Lara² at 6.4 kg, suitable from birth to 22 kg, with a folded size of 51 × 26 × 50 cm (H × W × L). Retailers describe a one-hand fold and three recline positions including flat. It works with Maxi-Cosi infant car seats as a travel system. Dutch retailers listed it from about €213 on 2 November 2026, and we saw it up to about €250 elsewhere.
Best for: parents who already have, or plan to buy, a Maxi-Cosi infant car seat.
4. Joie Litetrax Pro – full-size feel on a budget
If you want something that feels more like a full-size pushchair, the Litetrax Pro is a budget option with larger, foam-filled puncture-proof tyres according to retailer descriptions. Retail listings give 10.4 kg, a 22 kg child limit and a folded size of about 58 × 27.6 × 84 cm. Joie’s German listing showed €219.95 on 2 November 2026; German retailers had it from about €172.
Best for: daily walks on mixed surfaces when you can’t stretch to an all-terrain pram. Watch out for: check Joie’s page for newborn suitability and whether a carrycot is offered in your country.
5. Chicco Goody Plus – auto-fold convenience
Chicco, an Italian brand, sells the Goody Plus as a compact stroller with an automatic fold. A German retail listing gives 6.9 kg, and retailers describe it as suitable from birth. German retailers listed it from about €169 on 2 November 2026. We couldn’t verify the full specification on Chicco’s own site, so check the current model details before buying.
Budget setups from birth to toddler
A cheap stroller is only good value if it covers the stages you need. Three ways to do it on a budget, using prices we saw on 2 November 2026:
| Setup | What you get | Price seen |
|---|---|---|
| Lie-flat buggy only | Cybex Beezy, used from birth with the seat fully reclined | From €200.99 (retailers) to €299.95 (Cybex DE) |
| Buggy + infant car seat (travel system) | Joie Pact Pro travel system, listed with an infant car seat | €199.95 on Joie’s German site |
| Light buggy + existing car seat | Maxi-Cosi Lara² with a Maxi-Cosi infant car seat you already own | From about €213 for the Lara² |
If you drive, the travel-system route is often the best value, because you need an infant car seat anyway. Make sure the seat is approved to UN R129 (many are i-Size); seats approved only to the older R44 regulation can no longer be sold in the EU. Our stroller vs pram vs travel system explainer has the details.
Stretch pick: Cybex Eezy S Twist+ 2
The Eezy S Twist+ 2 has a 360° rotating seat, so you can turn your child to face you or the world without removing the seat. Cybex’s German shop lists it at €399.95; on 2 November 2026 we saw it at €319.99 at a German retailer. If it drops under €300 in a sale, it becomes a strong budget pick.
Other ways to save
- Previous model years. When brands launch a new model year, the outgoing version is often discounted. Check that spare parts are still available.
- Certified refurbished. Some brands, including Bugaboo in some markets, sell certified refurbished strollers with a warranty.
- Rental. Rental services for prams exist in several EU countries (for example in the Netherlands) and can make sense for a carrycot you’ll only use for six months.
- Second-hand. Check the model on the EU Safety Gate recall portal and the brand’s site, and inspect brakes, harness, folding locks, wheels and fabrics. Don’t buy a second-hand infant car seat with an unknown history.
- Black Friday. Stroller prices often drop in late November. Our Black Friday stroller deals page will list verified deals from mid-November.
How to choose a budget stroller
- From birth? If yes, choose a lie-flat seat approved from birth, or plan for an infant car seat.
- Weight vs comfort. Ultra-lights (6–7 kg) are easy to carry; heavier budget strollers (8–10 kg) often have bigger wheels or more padding.
- Fold. Check folded size against your boot and hallway.
- Surfaces. Small wheels suit pavements; for cobbles, read best stroller for cobblestones.
- Included accessories. A rain cover and bumper bar add value; check what’s in the box.
FAQ
Is a cheap stroller safe? Strollers sold in the EU are designed to EN 1888 regardless of price. Choose a known brand, follow the age and weight limits, and use the harness and brake.
Can I use a budget buggy from birth? Only if the manufacturer says so – usually because the seat lies fully flat (Cybex Beezy, Joie Pact Pro, Maxi-Cosi Lara²) or you attach a compatible infant car seat.
When are strollers cheapest? Sales events like Black Friday (27 November 2026) and end-of-model-year clearances often bring the biggest discounts.
