There is no single “best stroller”. A €1,300 all-terrain pram is overkill for a parent who mostly takes trams and flies twice a year, and a 6 kg cabin buggy is the wrong tool for a newborn on a cobbled street. So this list is organised by use case. Every pick is sold in the EU, and every weight and folded size comes from the manufacturer’s own page (sources at the end).

*Cybex’s own pages list the Libelle at 6 kg (German shop) and 6.2 kg (UK shop). Folded sizes are given in the order the brand publishes them; we’ve converted millimetres to centimetres.

How we picked

We shortlisted strollers from brands with a strong EU retail presence and compared them on the practical factors that matter most for everyday European use: unfolded width (doors, lifts, trams), folded size (small car boots, flats, overhead bins), weight (stairs), wheel size and tyres (cobbles), newborn suitability (a flat carrycot or lie-flat seat) and i-Size car-seat compatibility. We don’t test strollers ourselves; full details are on our research method page.

1. Bugaboo Fox 5 (and Fox 5 Renew) – best all-rounder from birth

The Fox is Bugaboo’s flagship all-terrain pram, and the spec sheet explains why it’s on almost every European shortlist. Bugaboo lists 12.2 kg with the seat and 13 kg with the bassinet, large puncture-proof wheels (22 cm front, 30 cm rear), a handlebar that adjusts from 92 to 108 cm (useful when parents differ in height) and a 10 kg / 45-litre basket. It’s rated from birth to about four years (22 kg).

The fold is flexible: a one-piece, self-standing fold of 45 × 60 × 90 cm, or a two-piece fold (seat removed) of 89 × 53 × 34 cm for a small boot.

The current version sold on Bugaboo’s EU shops is the Fox 5 Renew, which Bugaboo describes as using recycled fabrics, recycled aluminium and bio-based plastics, with a new PureBreeze mattress. Its weight is listed differently on different Bugaboo pages (12.3 kg on the Dutch page, 13 kg with seat on the comparison page), so treat it as roughly 12–13 kg. We saw it at €1,299 on bugaboo.com (Germany) on 2 November 2026, as a 2-in-1 with bassinet and seat. Bugaboo says purchases from its own shop include a four-year warranty.

Consider it if: you want one pram from birth to toddler that copes with parks, gravel and old-town streets. Skip it if: you need a light, narrow city stroller or you carry it up stairs every day.

2. Cybex Priam – best design-led premium pram

The Priam is the Fox’s main rival. Cybex sells it as a modular system: you buy the frame and then add a seat pack, the Priam Fold Lux Carry Cot (birth to 9 kg, about six months) or a Cybex infant car seat. Adapters for the car seat are included with the frame.

Cybex lists 12.9 kg, a folded size of 31.5 × 51.5 × 85 cm and an unfolded width of 60 cm, the same as the Fox. It has all-wheel suspension, a one-hand fold and recline, and a “two-wheel mode” for steps and sand. Optional accessories include an all-terrain front-wheel set and skis.

On 2 November 2026 Cybex’s German shop listed the new-generation Priam frame (Style collection) at €749.95, with seat packs sold separately. The total depends heavily on which seat pack and carrycot you choose, so price the complete set before comparing with the Fox.

Consider it if: you want a premium pram with lots of colour and frame options and a carrycot that folds on the frame. Skip it if: you dislike building a pram from separate parts or want a simple all-in-one box.

3. Bugaboo Dragonfly – best compact city pram

The Dragonfly is Bugaboo’s answer to small flats and city life: 9.9 kg with the seat, 10.5 kg with the bassinet, and 52 cm wide unfolded – 8 cm narrower than the Fox. It folds in one piece to 36 × 52 × 90 cm with the seat attached. That makes it one of the lightest full-size prams with a proper bassinet.

Consider it if: you live in a city flat, use lifts and public transport, and want a bassinet without a heavy chassis. Skip it if: your daily route is gravel or forest paths – smaller wheels are a trade-off.

4. Joolz Day5 – best everyday city stroller

Joolz is Dutch and designs for urban Europe. The Day5 weighs 12 kg with the seat (12.5 kg with the cot) and folds to 83 × 60 × 46 cm with the seat on, or 66.5 × 60 × 34 cm without it. The basket holds 25 litres / 10 kg.

Consider it if: you want a comfortable pram for daily walks and shopping and have room for a full-size fold. Skip it if: you need the smallest possible fold; Joolz says the Day5 folds with two hands.

5. Mutsy Evo – best mid-price full-size stroller

Mutsy is another Dutch brand, and the Evo is its “fully equipped at a fair price” model. Mutsy lists 11.8 kg (8.1 kg chassis plus 3.7 kg seat), a reversible seat with a flat sleeping position, suspension, removable wheels and a folded size of 69 × 61 × 30 cm. On 2 November 2026 Mutsy’s own EU shop listed the Evo at €499, with the matching carrycot at €179.

Consider it if: you want a full-size reversible pram for well under €1,000. Skip it if: you need the lightest option; consider a compact stroller plus a car seat instead.

6. Bugaboo Butterfly 2 – best travel stroller

If you fly often, the Butterfly 2 is the benchmark. Bugaboo lists 7.3 kg and a folded size of 44.8 × 24.5 × 55.5 cm, which it describes as IATA-compatible for overhead bins (check your airline). Unlike many travel buggies it’s rated from birth (Bugaboo recommends a car seat or its baby nest for newborns) up to 22 kg, with an 8 kg basket. €499 on bugaboo.com (Germany), 2 November 2026.

7. Cybex Libelle – best ultra-light buggy

The Libelle is the smallest fold in Cybex’s range: 20 × 32 × 48 cm, and 6 to 6.2 kg depending on which Cybex page you read. It’s for children from six months to about four years (22 kg) and is travel-system ready with Cybex infant car seats. It’s a second stroller for many families, not a newborn pram.

8. UPPAbaby Vista V3 – best for a growing family

The Vista V3 starts as a single pram (9 kg frame + 3.5 kg seat, folded with seat 41.4 × 65.3 × 85.9 cm) and can take a second seat, the RumbleSeat V3 (4.8 kg, children up to 16 kg). That makes it a single-to-double pram without buying a new chassis. UPPAbaby is American, so check availability and price with your local EU retailer.

Planning for two? See best double stroller (EU).

9. Thule Urban Glide 3 – best for running

A true three-wheeler with a swivel front wheel that locks for running. Thule lists 11.9 kg, a folded size of 88 × 58 × 31 cm, a 22 kg child limit and a total capacity of 34 kg. On 2 November 2026 several German retailers listed it from €692. Running with a stroller has extra rules – minimum age, locked front wheel, wrist strap – covered in our best jogging stroller guide.

10. Cybex Beezy – best budget stroller from birth

The Beezy reclines fully flat, so Cybex rates it from birth. It weighs 8.5 kg, has all-wheel suspension, includes a bumper bar and folds to 27 × 48.5 × 64.5 cm. Cybex’s German shop listed it at €299.95 on 2 November 2026, and we saw it lower at some German retailers. More options: best budget stroller under €300.

How to choose: five questions

  1. Will your baby use it from birth? Newborns need to lie flat: a carrycot, or a seat that reclines fully flat and is approved from birth. Many compact buggies are only for six months and older.
  2. Where will you push it? Cobbles and gravel favour bigger wheels and good suspension; see best stroller for cobblestones.
  3. Where will you store it? Measure your boot and hallway, and compare with the folded size.
  4. Will you carry it? Stairs, trams and trains make every kilogram count.
  5. Do you want a travel system? Check which UN R129 / i-Size infant car seats clip on, and whether adapters are included. Our stroller vs pram vs travel system explainer covers this.

Safety basics in the EU

Prams and pushchairs sold in the EU are designed to the European standard EN 1888. Part 1 covers pushchairs and prams for children up to 15 kg; Part 2 adds requirements for pushchairs for children above 15 kg up to 22 kg – which is why so many strollers list “up to 22 kg”. Always use the five-point harness, apply the parking brake whenever you stop, don’t hang heavy bags from the handlebar, and follow the manual’s age and weight limits.

FAQ

What is the best stroller overall in 2026? For most families who want one pram from birth to toddler, the Bugaboo Fox 5 / Fox 5 Renew and the Cybex Priam have the most complete specifications. If budget or space matters more, a compact pram like the Bugaboo Dragonfly or a lie-flat buggy like the Cybex Beezy may suit you better.

Do I need a separate pram and travel stroller? Many European families end up with two: a full-size pram for the first year and a compact buggy for travel and public transport. A from-birth travel stroller like the Butterfly 2 can be the only stroller for some city families.

Are prices the same across the EU? No. Prices vary by country, retailer and bundle. The prices above are what we saw on the date shown; always check before buying.
